As part of government reforms to how we deliver the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) service for children and young people aged 0-25, local authorities are required to develop and publish a central online source of information for them. This is the Local Offer.
The SEND code of practice states that the Local Offer must:
· Provide clear comprehensive accessible and up to date information about the available provision and how to access it, and
· Make provision more responsive to local needs and aspirations by directly involving disabled children and those with SEN and their parents, and disabled young people and those with SEN and service providers in its development and review.
The success of the Local Offer depends not only on obtaining full engagement with users to influence the information provided, but also on the support and collaborative involvement of partners.
