The second funding round for the Tesco Bags of Help local community grant scheme opens on 18th April 2016 (and closes in early June).
The scheme is administered by Groundwork and funded by Tesco customers from the proceeds of the 5p charge for plastic carrier bags brought in as a result of the government carrier bag levy.
Bags of Help scheme grants are available to a wide range of community groups, charities and organisations across Hertfordshire to improve local green/ outdoor spaces. Successful projects will go forward to a public vote in Tesco stores which will decide whether they receive a grant of £8,000, £10,000 or £12,000.
Projects that could get the green light as a result of funding include: community open spaces, nature/ wildlife gardens/ areas, play and sports facilities, pocket parks, schools facilities (eg: outdoor learning facilities, food growing areas, wildlife gardens, ponds, etc), woodland walks and community gardens and allotments.
The grants will fund eligible capital projects that improve the local environment and provide community benefit.
