Vacancies: Trustees for WHCVS

The Welwyn Hatfield Community and Voluntary Service provides support and advice to Voluntary and Community Organisations as well as to individuals in Welwyn Hatfield by centralising and acting as an agency for those who need assistance and those who are volunteering their services for this purpose. In addition, WHCVS operates the car service to transport people living in Welwyn Hatfield Borough who have difficulty using public transport. This may be because of mobility problems or other special needs. We transport to hospitals appointments all over the county and to London specialist hospitals.  Other projects includes: The Volunteer centre, Let’s Chat and Clean up Welwyn Hatfield

Being a Trustee at Welwyn Hatfield CVS  is hugely rewarding for those with the passion, drive and commitment to improve voluntary services in Welwyn Hatfield.  Our Board of Trustees has overall responsibility for the direction, management and control of the charity and and is collectively accountable for compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.

We currently need a new chairperson to lead the organisation.  The board is currently made up of local people who volunteer their time and expertise in order to shape our charity, safeguard its interests and ensure financial stability.

The overall role of the chairperson is:

  • is to lead and facilitate the organisation in its mission and objectives as described in the memorandum. Our members include over 100 local charities
  •  support WHCVS management officers in their roles (primarily, the Treasurer and Chief Executive Officer)
  •  broadly help support the mutual interests of the stakeholders of WHCVS
  •  communicate by email, website, Facebook and newsletters
  •  hold an AGM and facilitate at least 2-3 meetings a year
  • He or she will act as an ambassador and the public face of the charity in partnership with the Chief Executive

We are also in need of more board members.
