HAPpy Holiday Activity Programme

Grants are available to deliver activities with food in the Summer holidays to children aged 5-16 with those in receipt of free school meals eligible for free. The HAPpy programme is supported by Hertfordshire County Council, funded by the Department for Education and coordinated by the Herts Sports Partnership. We are seeking to fund a diverse range of projects and enrichment activities which are attractive and engaging for all ages and abilities of school children and include physical activity and nutritious food.  The fund is open to the voluntary sector, schools, youth clubs, statutory and private providers who can meet the charitable objectives of the programme.  You can apply for grants to support the provision of activities for four hours a day, up to four days a week throughout a four week period during the school summer holiday ie up to 16 x four hour days between 26 July and 27

The Heart Movement Bus is heading for Hertforshire

The mindfulness and wellbeing not-for-profit organisation The Heart Movement are planning to be in Hertfordshire on 16th and 17th June. They would like to hear from organisation who could benefit from having the heart bus visit. In response to the Covid pandemic they are reaching out to communities around the country offering their service. “The converted American School Bus provides a mobile studio that we take into communities. Providing sessions in mindfulness, heart coherence and listening spaces”. Digital Inclusion Project

The main focus of this project is to help those who are mostly excluded from support services and social circles resulting from a lack of digital ability. Volunteers needed for Lateral Testing roll out in local secondary school

The Onslow St Audrey’s School will start lateral flow testing for Covid-19 for all students in January. Students and staff will be able to take a test and 30 minutes later get the result. Communities 1st, along with the Volunteer Centre in Welwyn Hatfield, have been asked to recruit and co-ordinate volunteers to assist with non-clinical duties around reception and queue management. Volunteers can come from any background. You will be trained on line, and then be asked to volunteer for a 4-hour shift. At the start of the shift you will be issued with PPE and be tested yourself. All volunteers will receive travel expenses and refreshments. Youth Mentor

I am contacting to promote and raise awareness of the service that we offer young people who are at risk of NEET/are NEET. The Herts Youth Futures project provides one-to-one mentoring support for individuals facing barriers to education, training and/or employment. This BBO (Building Better Opportunities) project is in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council and is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and European Social Fund whom have invested £1.1 million to aid young people into supported and sustained work and education. What’s different about this project? The unique aspects of this project are that once referred, individuals will be allocated a Youth Mentor who will tailor their support solely based on the individuals’ needs. Additionally, this support is based around flexibility, being dependent on individuals’ circumstances and with the vision of long-term advice and guidance. Remote Volunteer Family Support Worker National Helpline

Family Lives operate a free confidential helpline for anyone experiencing difficulties in their family or relationship. Our volunteers take calls from parents and carers on a wide range of subjects, whether that might be issues around separation and divorce, isolation, depression, bullying and abuse, dealing with behavioural problems, etc.  You can find out more about our services on our website www.familylives.org.uk  Parenting and family support from Family Lives (formerly Parentline Plus) through our website, helpline 0808 800 2222, email service at askus@familylives.org.uk and local services. We are a national service with home-based call takers county wide as well as three call centres in the UK, one based in Old Hatfield in Hertfordshire, one based in Hadleigh in Essex and one in Newcastle.
