Our October Black History Month Pop-Up Market and Workshops Weekend in partnership with Hatfield Cultural Connection and held at The Galleria, was a weekend not to be forgotten. The local community and beyond came to celebrate Black heritage, support small businesses, connect with services and network. From lively performances to inspiring exhibitions and interactive spaces, the event saw an enthusiastic turnout, and the feedback from both attendees and participating businesses and services has been overwhelmingly positive. Black History Month October 2024 – What to look out for

October is Black History Month in the UK, It’s an annual focus on raising awareness about the often overlooked or underrepresented aspects of Black history, culture and heritage. Various events, exhibitions, performances, films, workshops, and educational activities and more are organised across the UK inviting everyone, to learn, appreciate, and engage with the rich and diverse heritage of Black Britons. Each year we fully support Keep Britain Tidy and raise awareness for their campaigns. Keeping Britain tidy is a daily task but each year they hold the Great British Spring Clean that you can get involved in. 2023 is their eighth annual #GBSpringClean and #GBSchoolClean; we would like even more teams to get involved in Welwyn Hatfield.
