The aims of the charity are to promote literacy in the community and help the environment by rehousing unwanted books. It would be an ideal opportunity for anyone who has been involved in education, libraries or bookshops but no experience is necessary. All we require is an interest in books and reading, and a willingness to promote and adhere to our aims.
What we are looking for?
We are looking for people who can commit to 2-3 hours a week or more to help run a community bookshop in The Galleria in Hatfield. The books are free but volunteers would be serving and advising customers, filling shelves, helping to keep the shop tidy, categorising books and helping sort books in the store room
The location of the shop is in the Galleria, which has disabled access and facilities. However, given the nature of the work volunteers will need to be reasonably fit and mobile, and literate. Please contact if in doubt. -The charity will be fully insured for volunteers
A refreshment allowance is given.
No travel expenses but a discounted parking fee is available
We cannot accept volunteers under the age of 18
Support from a named member of the senior team.
There is a two month probation period during which training is given
