Could you be the next manager for this exciting post?
Project: Jobs Pathway
Project Manager (part time)
Do you have the skills to build relationships with employers to encourage them to recruit ex-offenders.
We are looking for a self-starter, lots of enthusiasm and commitment on this new and exciting pilot project to place ex-offenders in meaningful jobs.
Around a quarter of men in the UK have a criminal record, and reoffending costs the UK about £14bn a year. Yet despite that fact, and the skill and enthusiasm that ex-offenders can bring, they are often automatically excluded by employers.
But we know that employers who are prepared to offer jobs to such candidates report that they are often more committed and loyal than the average.
The vision of Jobs Pathway is to develop an agency that helps overcome the barriers, supporting candidates into a new life, and helping employers tap into a pool of underused talent.
You will report to a Project Board with experience in this type of work, and the contacts to help open doors for you. Your first task is to understand the skills and support needs of the candidates, focussing initially on ex-offenders and develop relationships with sympathetic local employers. During this stage you will identify a small number of suitable vacancies and place your first candidates.
Once your initial placements are achieved, you will need to expand your list of employers, start to develop a website, and increase the number of placements, gradually including candidates with other barriers to employment such as mental health problems. This pilot project will include development of the business plan, outline agreements with employers about contributions towards costs, and submitted bids for funding for the next phase.
The salary negotiable up to £18,900pa for 3 days per week.
