Nyaka UK (Charity number 1191658) registered with the Charity Commission in 2020 with the aim of supporting vulnerable communities in southwest Uganda. It is a remote, rural area, home to half a million people, most of whom live in extreme poverty.
Nyaka UK’s focus is the thousands of grandmothers who are the sole carers of children whose parents, for whatever reason, are no longer present.
Nyaka UK has raised money to purchase 720, 1kg bars of soap that were distributed to grandmothers during the pandemic. We have also funded the purchase of 470 water harvesting tanks for grandmother households, reducing the need for girls and women to walk long distances for water which puts them at risk of sexual assault.
