Volunteers needed for Lateral Testing roll out in local secondary school

The Onslow St Audrey’s School will start lateral flow testing for Covid-19 for all students in January. Students and staff will be able to take a test and 30 minutes later get the result. Communities 1st, along with the Volunteer Centre in Welwyn Hatfield, have been asked to recruit and co-ordinate volunteers to assist with non-clinical duties around reception and queue management. Volunteers can come from any background. You will be trained on line, and then be asked to volunteer for a 4-hour shift. At the start of the shift you will be issued with PPE and be tested yourself. All volunteers will receive travel expenses and refreshments. Remote Volunteer Family Support Worker National Helpline

Family Lives operate a free confidential helpline for anyone experiencing difficulties in their family or relationship. Our volunteers take calls from parents and carers on a wide range of subjects, whether that might be issues around separation and divorce, isolation, depression, bullying and abuse, dealing with behavioural problems, etc.  You can find out more about our services on our website www.familylives.org.uk  Parenting and family support from Family Lives (formerly Parentline Plus) through our website, helpline 0808 800 2222, email service at askus@familylives.org.uk and local services. Requests for Christmas Kindness gift boxes for Hertfordshire’s older or isolated residents

We are delighted to tell you about the launch of our festive project ‘Christmas Kindness ’, which will be delivered in partnership with Small Acts of Kindness and HertsHelp. An army of volunteers are about to start packing the boxes so we expect boxes to be available for collection from Croxley Green early next week. We need your help to make this happen and to bring a smile and Christmas kindness to older and vulnerable people across the county who are feeling more than a bit lonely and isolated right now. We will have 3000 Christmas gift boxes ready from the first week of December  for collection and distribution by our partner organisations who’ve identified people who would benefit from a bit of festive cheer.
