Treasurer

Resolve is a charity that runs a range of services including adult substance misuse treatment services in Welwyn

Garden City and Letchworth, ReStart Homeless Project and Sparks Community Café in Hatfield.

The Treasurer plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and transparency of Resolve and works closely with the CEO, the Bookkeeper and the other trustees.

Our Trustee Board meets between 4-6 times per year.

Education Assistant

The education team helps visitors travel back in time to live as Celt and the education assistant will help visiting school children carry out a range of hands-on traditional craft activities, such as weaving, grinding grain on quern stones, model boat making and racing, crafting a Chieftain torc necklace or trade and role-play using real artefacts. The role will also assist with our family days and Archery experiences during the school holidays.

Volunteer Driver

If you love being behind the wheel and want to use your driving skills to help a charity, then you can join Herts Ability for this rewarding role! As a volunteer driver, you will be helping us transport our client to and from Welwyn Garden City based centre.

We will provide a vehicle and training for this role.

As a confident driver, you’ll be using your driving skills to safely transport our clients, staff, or equipment to their agreed destination. This could be to a driving lesson, driving assessment or any of our services.

Mentor Volunteers

Carers in Hertfordshire run a Volunteer Mentor scheme across the county in which Volunteer Mentors support unpaid family and friend carers. We have been offering this service to carers since 2012 and currently have over 50 mentors in the scheme and are currently recruiting more. The aim of the scheme is to support carers by helping them feel less isolated, increase social contact, develop their confidence and knowledge about available support.

Skills, experience and attributes which would be desirable are:

  • 2 years caring experience or work in a related area *An interest in meeting other carers and helping them
  • Being able to listen without judgment and offer emotional support

Become a Volunteer Family Mentor with Home Start Hertfordshire

Do you have experience caring for children? You may have the skills we need! Home-Start Herts are recruiting Volunteer Family Mentors to support vulnerable families who are experiencing tough times. A Volunteer Family Mentor will visit a family once a week for 2-3 hours, on a 1:1 basis, offering practical and emotional support so that families can work through their challenges, build their confidence and offer their children the best start in life possible.

Let’s Chat Telephone Befriending Service

Let’s Chat is a telephone support service, which provides regular calls and a friendly chat to people who are isolated. WHCVS are looking for 2-3 volunteers who are willing to chat to some of their lonely residents in the Welwyn Hatfield area on a weekly basis.

Could you take some time to provide friendly conversation to people who are isolated as a result of but not exclusively their age, being housebound mental or physical illness/disability or living away from family?

You will need to be reliable, trustworthy and have a good amount of patience.

Could you be a Digital Champion? We are looking for Champions to help local people gain the skills and confidence to stay connected through technology.

We are working with other voluntary services in the county for the Digital Inclusion Project. The main focus of this project is to help those who are mostly excluded from support services and social circles resulting from a lack of digital ability.
